Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc s does not seem as a massive improvement over its predecessor- Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. While the device is a perfect choice with its eye catching design which is backed up by a great display and a terrific 8.1 megapixel digital camera. It is a minor upgrade of the original Arc and boasts the same super thin case design. The only difference is it is powered by a powerful or advanced 1.4 GHz processor.
Let take a detailed look at the specs-
1. The Interface – Aside from the boost in processing power, there is one more difference between the original Xperia Arc & Xperia Arc S and that is Firmware. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc s operates on Android 2.3.4 which is a very latest version of Sony Ericsson Timescape UI sitting.
There are a lot of improvements but my personal favourite is you are able to take screen grabs by holding down the power button and selecting the ‘Take screenshot’ option form the pop-up menu. You can easily access to the Sony Ericsson’s music unlimited and video unlimited online stores and can download album & movies.
2. The Display – Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc s is really a stunner and has a slightly smaller than Samsung Galaxy S2’s 4.3 inch display. There is a stunning 4.2 inch LED backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen having display resolution of 480×854 pixels. The resolution is razor sharp and colors look natural & striking.
3. The Design – In term of physical design, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S is very identical to the original Arc. It is a good looking smartphone and has a unique design where the back of the mobile phone curves inwards. This means that the end of the handset is thicker than the middle. The device’s external casing is entirely plastic and even the battery cover feels cheap & springy.
4. The CPU & Internal Storage – The biggest difference between the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc & Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S is the processor. Xperia Arc S features a 1.4 GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU along with Qualcomm MSM8255T snapdragon.
The internal memory is 400MB along with 8GB micro card is bundled with the smartphone. The device is support card up to 32GB.
5. Internet – Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S has a blisteringly quick browser and comes with Adobe Flash and you can enjoy the web fullest. The capacitive touchscreen means that multi touch pinch to zoom gesture are also supported and pin-sharp resolution makes viewing text heavy sites a pleasure rather than a Chore.
6. The Camera – Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc s offers 8.1 megapixel camera and also boasts Exmor R for mobile tech. The camera has a backlit CMOS sensor which is much better at shooting in low light condition. There is a dedicated camera button and camera supports other useful features such as auto-focus, LED flash, video calling, touch –focus, Geo-tagging & 3D panorama & image stabilization. You can also link up the handset either the HDMI socket or share media with a media with a DLNA compatible device. The camera has can record videos at 720p video recording capabilities. It also allows you to create a three dimensional photo which can be viewed on a 3D TV.
7. The Connectivity & Battery life – With Bluetooth & Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S equipped with HDMI port and allows you to link the phone to your TV. Along with a faster processor and beautiful screen, the battery life is also one of the impressive features.
