If you own a Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, you’re probably wondering when your version of Android will be drag into modern times. While it’s not all the way there yet, Android 2.1 has marinated long enough and is finally ready for the X8. The 2.1 – or Eclair – update has begun rolling out to Xperia X8 handsets. While the comes-outs have begun, and no time frame has been set for when everyone will finally be on board, it looks like it could take a while for some users.
According to the Sony Ericsson product blog:
The final timing of when each kit comes is depending on different local and global approvals and therefore we don’t really have a detailed plan per kit but rather release them as soon as all needed approvals are in. AT&T users may be last on the list, sadly.
With Android 2.1, you can expect features like 720p recording – which really should be a standard on all smartphones these days – and you’ll also have five home screens now which should give you ample of room for your apps and widgets.
It is due for the Android 2.1 update earlier than later, hit the tie below and check your SI number on the back of your phone to see if it falls within the group of handsets suitable for the update. Not long ago the Android 2.1 roll out began for X10 mini and mini pro users.
